The Barony of the Osprey presents Join the good gentle folk of Osprey for a weekend of fighting, feasting and froofy nonsense of a kind seldom seen in these Current Middle Ages. Okay, maybe it IS like some other event you've been to, but different. The fighting here is hard, but fair. The feasting is at the same time yummy and plentiful, and anyone will tell you that "there ain't no nonsense like Osprey nonsense." We can be froofy when we choose to be. It's a well-known fact. Look into it.

For the martially-inclined, there will be three heavy weapons lists: A Bridesmaid Tourney, A William Marshall List, and A Patron's Tourney in which each fighter will be sponsored by an artisan entered in the A&S competition. The winner of the Patron's Tourney will be named the Keg's Champion, and we all know what that means... There are also two rapier events on schedule, a melee and a William Marshall List, so bring your cold steel and use it on your friends. A Regional Arts & Sciences Faire, the first on the Meridian Coast in living memory, will be held. Additionally, the Sixth Annual Athanor Faire will run most of the day. You may enter both competitions. Children's activities include crafts, games, and stories featuring the works of the Great Masters of Art. A schedule will be available at the Troll Booth. Take time to shop with the many merchants who will be hawking their wares inside the fort. A feast will be presented, which promises to be both filling and delicious. Here's the menu. Ingredients will be posted at Troll for those with allergies and other dietary foibles. There will be fundraising events held during the day to support several causes. including one of Osprey's finest gentles, Lord Grigorii Elesseyevich, whose Viking funeral is being planned. Please contact the Event Steward to sign up for a shift on Troll Duty, or to become a member of the Security Detail, both essential jobs that should be shared. Showers are available within a short distance, and for a fee so tiny, so miniscule, that the people staying with you will probably pay it just so they don't have to smell you. Okay, it's three bucks. A bargain, ask anybody. Lodgings? Well, there are cabins for rent on Dauphin Island near and far, plenty of tent space outside the fort, and limited space for period tenting within. The Reservations Steward has all the latest details. More details will follow as plans are settled, so return to this site for the latest info. |
